Mr Lynne you did it right the other night. When you set 50,000 fans alight. I’m talking about last Sunday, September 14. The venue: Hyde Park. The artists: Jeff Lynne, Chrissie Hynde, Billy Ocean and Blonde to name just a few.
Lunchtime slump? Why not watch Jeff Lynne & ELO's set at Hyde Park again? You're welcome!

What a line up! Thousands of over 40s brought the house down, gyrating to Jeff Lynne at A Festival in a Day, his first major gig his band, ELO, has performed at in nearly 30 years.
If proof were needed of the frontman’s popularity, consider how eager his fans were to see him play. Earlier this year, Radio 2 DJ, Chris Evans, asked listeners if anyone wanted to see this seventies unsung hero perform again. And, more importantly, when they’d like to see him set a date.
The most fun dates for over 45s to remember
Proving that last Sunday was among the greatest fun dates for over 45s (and those below) to remember, all 50,000 tickets sold out. And in less than 90minutes! An accolade to the guitarist who, back in 1977, saw millions of mulleted teenagers smooch to Sweet Talkin’ Woman.
In between the Lynne relics – and I’m not referring to the crowd – he let slip that he’s considering a world tour, if not a UK one, as reported in the Guardian. Sound good? You bet it is!
But the middle-aged brigade had much more to celebrate at the festival. Don’t get me wrong, there were others too in the shape of Pretenders’ front woman, Chrissie Hynde, not to mention Billy Ocean and Blonde – all of whom dissolved forty years in the blink of an eye.
They seemed like the real thing and they were!
Those who questioned if these retro star singers only seemed like the real thing may need their ears tested. They definitely were!
Would you like to see an ELO comeback tour? What do you think?
